Updating our system's CCSS website is a task that I enjoy. The problem is finding the time to do it! It is clearly obvious that the implementation of the Common Core State Standards is going to take time and must be done in incremental steps. If the pedagogy of teaching is truly going to change, a myriad of professional development and strong administrative support and consistent monitoring/evaluation must occur.

The College and Career Ready Standards (CCRS) Implementation Team attended the second workshop that was facilitated by the Alabama State Department of Education. AMSTI and ARI personnel demonstrated ways on how to build rigorous math and ELA lessons. The team will decide how and who will present the information to the instructional leaders.

The CCRS Implementation Team presented the essential shifts of the Common Core State Standards in the Assistant Principals' meeting that was held on November 7th. They did a good job in relaying vital facts and the instructional leaders were asked to share the information and resouces with their respective faculty members. Scott Weeks created an AWESOME blog and I sincerely hope teachers and administators will utilize the blog to share tips, resources, ideas, and/or strategies related to the CCSS.

The CLAS Common Core State Standards workshop that was held in Prattville on October 22nd yielded beneficial information. Although I was extremely tired when I got home, it was worth the trip. I will share the information I received with the instructional leaders in the upcoming APadminstrator's meeting. I feel confident that they will quickly disseminate the information to their teachers.
